About Us
D&D Performance dates back to 1969 when Ed Decooman and Rolly Doucet began their dream of building and racing cars. Big block engines were the specialty of the day. Chrysler, Ford or GM muscle cars were optimized for maximum horsepower. The two would buy, modify and race the cars together. They originally set up shop as a gas station and garage in Gatineau, turning their hobby into a business. Their first race car was a 1969 Camaro with a 427-cubic-inch engine. In 1978 they relocated to their current location in Chesterville, Ontario, maintaining both hotrods and the every day vehicle.
After retiring from racing in the mid-1990s, they focused on getting others on the track. A wide variety of their clients come from all over including Newfoundland, Quebec, northern and southwestern Ontario. The engine-building business expanded with an addition to the shop in 2002.
In 2020, Ed DeCooman and Roland ‘Rolly’ Doucet were officially inducted into the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Montreal. The ultimate honour for a Canadian mopar enthusiast.
For many, many years D&D Performance has had a special connection with the Luskville Dragway in Luskville Quebec. Whether it be racing, sponsoring or supporting, the love of racing was the ultimate, shared goal.
On June 4th 2022, the raceway held a nostalgia series in honour of the late Ed DeCooman. The team at D&D wishes to thank Luskville Dragway and all its participants.
